a night out

Tonight was a night out in Newport. We took the kids to the park and decided to go out to eat. Camille, who is normally very good at the restaurant was very disobedient and hard. I warned her about 12 times that if she didn't behave she wouldn't get a treat from her favorite treat shop, but she continued.

After dinner we headed toward Starbucks and Cami informed us that she wanted her treat. We told her that was not an option because she disobeyed and we had warned her. So after getting upset and a little talk we continued our walk. She was very disappointed because we had to walk by the shop twice going to and from Starbucks to home, but hopefully she'll remember this the next time.

At some point during the walk, the kids were in the stroller and I got down to help tuck their covers around them. Since the whole treat incident was a while ago, I didn't think much of it and giving Cami a little kiss I said "did you know I love you so much?" To that she replied in a very definitive tone: "I know you love me to have a treat!!"

some cami things

Cami told me today that she loved my rings that Chris gave me. She often times looks at them and admires them. Today, she said "what are these?". I told her they were diamonds. Cami said "those diamonds are amazing!"

She also told me today that her my little ponies were "amazing" and "wonderful".

She's been singing SO much lately, which I just adore. I like having music playing in the house, but even more than that is the sweet little melody of a 3 year olds voice, remembering half a song and making up the other half. There is one song in particular that she learned at school where she is a bunny and the only part of it I really understand is when she sways her little hips back & forth and sticks her butt out saying "swish your bushy tail." Too cute!

running chic

I love running, and though I'm not super fast or anything like that, its part of me. I identify with it. Well recently I saw the coolest biking shirts (www.pedalpushersclub.com), and googled and googled to find some cute types of t's for running. I found a few that I semi-liked, but nothing that I'd just wear with jeans. SO, I decided to do my own. I found a great site where I can try printing one shirt at a time. This is the look I'll be sporting. While I did that, I came up with a couple Cami and Noah ideas. More to come on them.

tantrums

Look at that adorable face. You probably wouldn't think to look at it, but Noah has recently given into a temptation called tantrums. You know them. You do them, they just aren't the flailing of the arms, throwing your body on the floor and kicking kind. Well, to be honest, I'm not sure what to do with this little guy. He's only 15 months and some things can be stopped with a firm talking to. Actually, any talking to by Chris and Noah's bottom lip quivers (it makes me cry). Cami never did this, and actually has yet to do it. Oh sure, she yells and says stuff to get herself discipline. But kicking, screaming & flailing of the body, this is a new challenge. Am I up for it? Well, I'm a mommy. That's like asking if a sailor wants to deploy. Whether he wants to or not, he's going to...

Advice? You note on the side I read the girl talk blog by Carolyn Mahaney and her daughters. One verse that I heard today on a talk she had given was 2 Timothy 1:5, where Paul is telling Timothy he is reminded of Timothy's sincere faith that first dwelt in his mother Eunice & grandmother Lois. What an awesome challenge to mother in a way to show my deep faith in Christ and pass it onto my kids. I long and pray that this will happen, but when the rubber meets the road how do I turn a tantrum into a teaching moment with complete patience and love?

facials

Cami loves giving facials. she calls it "doing your face." I posted this on facebook a week or so ago, but this is a video of a regular occurrence here in the Wallace Household. video

a fish and a gymnast

This past week we started a lessons at the Y. Swimming for both the kids and gymnastics for Cami.

Chris had Monday off, which was great because he got to participate in our first day. Cami's swimming lessons were with a group of kids her age. She did really well and although she was scared, she did what the teacher asked and really pushed herself. Noah, was absolutely fearless. Which I kinda knew cause he freaks me out in the bathtub sometimes (he loves going on his tummy and sticking his head as close to the water as possible). SO, the minute we get in the water he is full of glee, laughing, and kicking & splashing like crazy while the other babies are clinging tightly to their mothers. The instructor and other mothers were quite entertained by his extreme craziness. Seriously, instead of Noah we could actually call him Nemo.

In the afternoon after naps, we have gymnastics for Cami. Its nice since it is at the Y cause I can drop Noah off in childcare and really watch Cami and encourage her. She was definitely the youngest there, but looked absolutely adorable trying to jump the way they told her to or balance while they held her hand. They had her bounce on a long trampoline and her little body could barely handle it, I couldn't help but giggle, cause she's just adorable. She LOVED it and keeps talking about it. Its nice to do these little things that also help with her coordination and stuff.

yes, we indeed have a walker

Its actually been about a month since Noah started walking. So many people told me that because he is so active he'd be walking before a year. Month 14 rolls around and he finally made his few steps. Now he's crazy, and I'm thinking I probably could have waited until year 2! Seriously, this boy is into everything. He is SO much more active and curious than I ever remember Cami being.

Noah climbs absolutely everything. They've told me several times at the Y something along the lines of: He's very happy baby, but I'm sure he keeps you busy.

He's always on the kitchen table and tries to get into places I've blocked off and usually succeeds. His favorite phrase is "Uh-Oh", which he promptly says after doing something he knows he shouldn't. (Its so cute!)

Since we are living in a furnished house without our stuff, we decided the pack-n-play would be what Noah sleeps in until we get to San Diego. This past week he figured out how to move across the room in the pack-n-play when he's done napping. The pack-n-play is about 3 feet from his bedroom door. Today, I heard him talking and laughing upstairs, so I went to get him up from his nap. When I got upstairs I see the door open and a little head peak around and smile. The little rascal had scooted in his pack-n-play, all the way to the door and opened it!!
